WAYNE, Pa. & BOCA RATON, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--MEDecision,
Inc. (Nasdaq:MEDE), a provider of collaborative care management
software, services and clinical content to health care payers, today
announced that it will be featured in “The Global Learning Series,”
an education-focused television program distributed to public
television by GTS Education Inc. The upcoming episode is called
“Understanding Patient Care.”
The feature will be distributed to public television stations,
several nationwide cable outlets, and globally to VOA Television. A
one-minute version of the program will air the week of October 29 on
the FamilyNet network (viewers can check their local area for
FamilyNet channel listings). The program will utilize a documentary
and public service announcement style to inform viewers about the
use of medical information in care delivery, particularly the
benefits of electronic health records (EHRs).
“This is an excellent opportunity for the general public to learn
how dramatically the efficient and timely deployment of clinical
information can impact the health care system,” said MEDecision
founder and CEO David St.Clair. “I think people will come away
sharing our longstanding belief that clinical data exchange is the
most promising means for improving care and containing costs.”
St.Clair said there is a growing belief among experts that the
health care system is being severely constrained by incomplete and
inconsistent patient information. Physicians and other providers,
along with insurance companies and related health care stakeholders,
generally don’t have streamlined and simple access to all of the
clinical information about a patient that exists with any number of
different sources. MEDecision’s Collaborative Care Management
solutions, particularly its Patient Clinical Summary (PCS™), are
designed to rectify this.
The PCS compiles an individual’s current and historical medical data
from doctors, labs, pharmacies, and other sources, and augments it
with evidence-based medicine to create care plans and offer
treatment opportunities. It is then delivered to the point of care
through a secure Web portal. The PCS enables physicians and other
care providers to make faster and more informed decisions, which can
improve care, maximize efficiencies and help control costs.
“MEDecision’s technical innovation is giving practitioners better,
more complete and more valuable information about patients at the
actual point of care, fostering more favorable outcomes and lower
costs for all involved,” said John McGuire, senior producer of
programming for “The Global Learning Series.” “We are pleased to
partner with MEDecision to educate our medical professional and
patient viewers about this extremely important issue that can affect
millions of Americans.”
